Sustainable Communities

The Bolster Group advocates a strong sense of corporate social responsibility to both our workforce and indeed the community in which we are working. This is achieved by a community engagement strategy focusing on three key behaviours and activities of health and safety, our people and communities.

Health and Safety

Bolster Group has a systematic approach to health and safety which allows smooth delivery of sustainability objectives reducing accidents, insurance costs, and legal costs along with controlling risks. Bolster Group is constantly striving to improve our health and safety assessment model. In the area of house building the Bolster Group already possess "Health & Safety Authority" approved health and safety practices and policies for all site staff and sub contractors. This includes ensuring that all sub contractors and Bolster staff have valid insurance, valid method statement, have tool box and manual handling training along with safety inductions and regular refreshers on safe work practice on a Bolster construction site.

In large scale projects the Bolster Group employ a Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) to coordinate the design team to ensure that adequate attention is paid to Health and Safety in relation to the design, use and maintenance of the buildings and environs under consideration. During this process the design team identifies hazards and subsequently communicates necessary control measures to eliminate, reduce, inform and control these hazards and associated risk.

Our People

Bolster Group attracts, develop and retain excellent and qualified staff from all backgrounds to enhance our sustainable business. Bolster Staff are annually retrained in the most up to date sustainability procedures including a Masters programme at Waterford Institute of Technology. Staff are also trained in a sophisticated online construction collaboration technique called buzzsaw for secure on-demand access to designs, documents and information in a centrally managed project data repository resulting in a drastic reduction in printing, copying, shipping, administration and management costs and energy.

The Bolster Group has always recognised the need to engage, respect and understand the community in which we work. Currently the Bolster Group sponsor Tramore Soccer Club, Brian McCormack Irish Super Bike Champion and Fenor National School. This investment not only helps social economic regeneration and specific community needs but also enhances economically successful and vibrant neighbourhoods which makes it easier to recruit staff and locate high quality suppliers. Bolster Group also facilitates and supports any local communities in a sustainable manner that may need top soil or indeed assistance installing solar technology. The Bolster Group also strive to be a considerate constructor by building goodwill in the locality and being respectful, safe, accountable, clean, a good neighbour and always aware of the environment.
