Planning Permission Granted for World Class family & Golf resort In Tramore |
|
Planning permission has been granted by Waterford County Council for the €150 m Islandikane development on a 220-acre County Waterford coastal site between Garrarus and Kilfarrasy.
The resort, which is aimed at the family market, features a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, a state-of-the-art health spa and a range of family entertainment, sport and leisure facilities. A ‘period’ style hotel, with 142 suites, will act as the centerpiece of the environmentally friendly development and will also include 40 associated golf lodges and 28 houses.
Construction of the resort will provide employment for over 350 people with a further 150 full-time jobs to be provided when the resort opens, with considerable potential for additional part-time employment, particularly during the summer months. The resort has been designed to generate more year-round tourism business rather than just seasonal business in Tramore.
William Bolster of the Bolster Group says he is delighted to have received planning permission from the County Council and he sees it as a massive vote of confidence for the Tramore area and shows great vision from the Council and all involved. I would like to thank the County Manager, Planning Department and all the various departments in the County Council along with all the local support and the support from the local Councillors throughout the process. We do realize that the process may not be finished yet but I hope that people can see all the positives that a project like this can bring rather than focusing on the negatives.
